FASD and Your Child: Cause, Effects and Interventions

This STARS informational presentation is open to any adoptive, foster or kinship family. We will begin with a DVD program that explains FASD and gives practical and current details about how prenatal alcohol exposure affects a person physically, emotionally and behaviorally. Clinicians, educators and parents share strategies for understanding, coping and intervening.

After the DVD program, Linda Gort-Walton, CRNP  of SouthEast Lancaster Health Services will lead a question and discussion session about FASD.

Many agencies will provide credit hours to parents who attend.

FREE Children's Programming is available. Refreshments provided.

Participants can register by email - info@starsfamily.org
Tell us the ages of your children and how many adults will be attending.

STARS 3rd Annual
Family Cook Out
1:30 PM Grills Fire Up!
Join us on Sunday afternoon June 22 for STARS  third annual Family Cook Out at Buchanan Park Pavilion on the campus of Franklin and Marshall College.  A nice children's playground and restrooms are next to the pavilion.  Open grassy areas are all around so we will have plenty of space for athletic activities.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, rolls, condiments, potato chips, paper products, utensils and bottled water will be provided. You may want to bring other drinks for your family.

Families are asked to contribute a side dish to share with others. Here are a few suggestions. Store made side dishes are just fine.

  • Precut fruit or vegetables
  • Potato, macaroni or pasta salad
  • Deviled eggs
  • Cole Slaw
  • Lettuce salad with dressing
  • Rice salad
  • Bean salad
  • Fruit Salad
  • Tortilla chips with guacamole or salsa

Bring a blanket and/or folding chairs and your favorite outdoor games, balls etc. The park has tennis courts and basketball courts located near the pavilion and children's playground.

Extended family members are invited too!
