Hello everyone,
For each one of us, life is a continuing process of change: marriage, birth, adoption, a new job, divorce or death. Change is life’s only constant. Some situations are hard to manage and we are faced with what feels like insurmountable challenges. We have no control of life’s occurrences, but we can always choose the manner in which we deal with them. The choices we make will eventually determine who we are today and who we will become tomorrow.
Whether it is in our personal life, family life or work life, there is often pressure to keep things just the way they are. Change is a break in our routine and we naturally feel more comfortable when things remain the same. Resisting or avoiding change are initial responses and should be expected. It is difficult to move from our “comfort zone” or “safe place” and we may experience fear of the unknown.
On the other hand, those who really want change and have participated in the change decision may be impatient for it to begin. A planned change based on mutual goals is usually a lasting one. Some people try to reduce the risks involved in major change by taking time to prepare. Some may consult professionals for information to determine benefits and alternatives. We become resilient when we accept change as an opportunity rather than viewing change as a danger to be avoided.
Come and join STARS families as we bring in the in the New Year with an embracing and positive attitude towards the many changes that will undoubtedly come our way.
