Designing Rituals of Adoption for the Religious and Secular Community
by Mary Martin Mason
This is a revised edition published in 2002 by Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. Ms. Mason is a nationally known author and speaker. She discusses the importance of creating rituals to adoption. The book contains many practical examples of rituals derived from different faith based traditions and non-religious ways to celebrate the significant life events of adoptees. This book is a valuable resource and our family has performed some of the rituals. We plan to honor our boys with special ceremonies for years to come.

I Don't Have Your Eyes
by Carrie A. Kitz
This is a fabulous book for adopted children ages 2-8. The story and pictures uncover an empowering message to children - family members can look different on the outside and still have many traits and characteristics in common. All of the positive messages revealed in the story make this book a worthwhile purchase for adoptive families.
