May is National Foster Care Month

With guidance and support from nurturing adults, children and youth in foster care are capable of overcoming the repercussions of previous abuse and neglect. Across the country, people just like you are helping them build brighter futures by serving as their foster parents, relative caregivers, mentors, advocates, social workers and volunteers.

Vist the National Foster Care Month Web Site.

Many thanks to the Hands-On House Children's Museum of Lancaster for donating admission passes to foster children and their families in honor of National Foster Care Month

I hope to see many families at STARS upcoming warm weather events!

On April 14, 2007 foster Moms, adoptive Moms, pre-adoptive Moms and adoption professionals came together to listen to Beth O'Malley speak about Lifebooks. Beth is the respected author of LifeBooks Creating a Treasure for the Adopted Child, My Foster Care Journey, For When I'm Famous: A Foster/Adopt Teen LifeBook, and China Workbook. Her books guide foster and adoptive parents in the telling the story of their child ... starting with the day the child was born. Photos, fancy papers, keepsakes, embellishments and
maps can be included in a Lifebook but are much less important than the words. A Lifebook is a foster or adopted child's personal storybook that reveals his or her place in their families, community and world.
