On Sunday afternoon July 9, 2006 many
transracial families came to Buchanan Park in
Lancaster, PA. for good food and fun. The weather
was just right as parents and children
enjoyed the sunshine and each other.
Have you ever asked yourself what are the
defining characteristics of being "white" or "black" in
America today? If you would like to objectively
analyze the phenomena of race and ethnicity as well
as some of the world wide patterns of discrimination
please visit the informative site of Dr. Dennis O'Neil.
Any STARS member who reads a book
or watches a video or DVD from our STARS
Lending Library or one that is referenced on the
STARS Web Site is invited to contribute
their opinion about the book or program.
Just write a short paragraph or two (75-150 words)
about the book's content and context.
You become the critic! Share your
thoughts. Include what you liked and/or disliked. On
a scale of 1 to 5 stars, with 5 stars being
the best, give the book, video or DVD a star rating.
Then, send your review and rating in an email
message to the address below. Reviews will be
posted online. Each reviewer will be identified by
their first name only.
Greetings!
About one year ago, STARS
became a nonprofit parent-led volunteer corporation.
Foster care and adoptive families from Lancaster,
Pennsylvania and beyond have come together to
share their knowledge and life experiences.
STARS membership continues to grow
because we realize the benefits of forming
relationships with other transracial families. We are
aware of the unique challenges which transracial
families encounter and we understand the
camaraderie and support that STARS offers
to its members.
